About the Grocery

Gaining Ground Grocery is the first project of the Chattanooga Food Center. Our goal is to provide affordable, healthy food to Chattanooga by offering our customers access to local, sustainable produce, meat, eggs, dairy, and more. Since Gaining Ground Grocery is a nonprofit food project, all proceeds from the store support the continuing mission of the Chattanooga Food Center.

Products & Inventory

Follow us for regular inventory updates

We work with over 20 producers in the area to intentionally source as much local food as possible! The produce we offer rotates based on the season, so you'll want to follow us on Instagram, @gaininggroundgrocery, to see weekly updates about what we have in store for you!

Bulk products

We also offer a wide array of bulk products such as rice, beans, grains, spices, teas, and cleaning products (an extended list can be found below). You are always welcome to bring your own clean containers for all our bulk items; we just ask that you make sure you have a tare weight on them before filling!

Our offerings vary by season

Although local, seasonal produce is our primary focus, we do carry other staple produce items such as lemons, limes, oranges, bananas, and avocados. We try to keep potatoes, garlic, and onions on hand at all times, so these may not be locally sourced year-round.
